Ramallah: On the eve of parliamentary elections, Israeli security forces completely closed crossings into the West Bank and Gaza Strip out of concern for Palestinian armed attacks against Israeli targets inside Israel or in the West Bank on election day .

In light of Tuesday's election, all crossings between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and Israel will be closed from midnight on October 31 until midnight on November 1.

Israel will be unable to accept more than 130,000 Palestinian workers, and the import and export of goods will stop. According to Palestinian economic experts quoted by Arab News, the closure would cost the Palestinian economy hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Israel claimed that before and after the election, Palestinians planned to conduct armed attacks in Israel and the West Bank, according to dozens of security reports that its intelligence services had received.

An escalation in warnings over the past two days has sparked fear in the Israeli military establishment about the possibility of attacks on election day.

Israel's Cannes public TV channel reported that Israeli intelligence services had received about 100 security warnings over the past few days related to possible military attacks against Israeli Defense Forces targets and settlers in the West Bank. In response, the state of alert in Jerusalem was raised to the maximum level and Israeli forces in Hebron were strengthened.

According to Israeli security services, there are serious concerns about an increase in attacks and their spread from north to south of the West Bank, as happened on October 29 in Hebron.

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid ordered a continuation of high-alert measures in all areas and an increase in active Israeli security forces in the Hebron region and the rest of the West Bank from Sunday evening, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

An unnamed senior Palestinian official warned Arab News that votes in favor of right-wing candidates such as Benjamin Netanyahu and Itamar Ben-Gwir during the election season could be due to armed attacks by Palestinians. The occupied West Bank is home to some 650,000 settlers, who will form a large voting group on Tuesday.

Senior Israeli military officials issued a warning that if Palestinians wanted to turn themselves over to the Palestinian Security Services, the military could arrest them.

"Even if they surrender, we will know how they can be apprehended," the group said in reference to the killers of those soldiers, two weeks before the group itself in Palestinian security forces near Nablus. was changed to.

To trace the attackers and prevent further firing, he said the Israeli army and the Shin Bet were conducting searches.

The Palestinian Authority and its security services have attempted to persuade members of the armed group Lions Den to let themselves in, but fears that threats from an Israeli official may thwart their efforts.

Last week, five senior members of the group turned themselves into Palestinian security forces over concerns that they would be poached or killed by Israeli forces.

According to a senior Palestinian Authority security official, "Israel does not want Palestinian security to be successful in managing the security situation and exercising its authority inside Palestinian cities."

As a result, whenever Palestinian security forces manage to take charge of security, we are thwarted by Israel, either through their repeated intrusions or provocative statements.
