In the ongoing session in Parliament, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad responded to the public sector undertaking BSNL. He said, 'We firmly believe that the existence of a public sector undertaking like BSNL is important for both public service and fairness in the entire system of communication. BSNL had to face bad times. It looked positive in 2014-15, 2015-16.'

In his statement, the Union Minister further said, 'Our government has taken a decision to revive both BSNL and MTNL as they do public service in floods, earthquakes etc.'

In his address in Parliament, he further said that 74% of revenue for BSNL employee, 87% in MTNL, 3% in Airtel, 6% in Vodafone and 4% in Jio. So we had to think afresh for this.
