Kolkata: CBI arrested Prasanna Kumar Roy on 26 August 2022 in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. Prasanna played the role of a middleman in this scam. He is a close relative of Partha Chatterjee, a minister in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Prasanna was arrested from the New Town area of ​​Kolkata. Prasanna Roy, who once made a living by painting houses, today has many hotels, which are located in Dubai Darjeeling, Uttarakhand and Puri. Also, he has a farmhouse. According to CBI sources, there are several plots and farm houses in his name in the New Town-Rajghat area.

According to media reports, Prasanna used to do the work of painting houses. Later he started his own painting business. But today he has hotels in Dubai including many states of India. He has about five properties around New Town. The CBI has also come to know about having several bighas of land in his name in North Bengal. The agency is also investigating whether SSC scam money has been used in acquiring these properties. 

Earlier, actress Arpita Mukherjee, who was arrested in the SSC scam, also had many properties. Rs 27.90 crore cash and 6 kg gold was recovered by ED from a residence of Arpita Mukherjee in Belgharia. She has been close to Partha Chatterjee. It was revealed in ED's raid that Partha Chatterjee has a large number of flats. Many of these he gave as gifts to his 'close associates' including Arpita Mukherjee and Monalisa Das. Arpita had told the ED that her flat was used by Partha Chatterjee as a 'mini bank'.
