Parthiv Patel has been called to Indian test team after 8 years of gap. It was quite surprising to see him back in the team but the management was struggling to find the alternative for the injured Wriddhiman Saha who is under treatment for his thigh injury. He got himself injured in the 2nd test against England. Parthiv Patel was in good form in the domestic cricket hence he was given chance to represent the nation.

In the absence of regular opener KL Rahul, Parthiv Patel goes the chance to open the Indian innings with the most dependable opener in the test for India i.e. Murali Vijay. Parthiv has shown a good game in the  two innings of the last test match and persisting injury of Saha has made the management to give one more chance to Parthiv Patel. He has scored 42 and 67 in the two innings of last test match respectively.

"Parthiv Patel will continue to be part of the Indian Test team for the 4th Test of the five-match Paytm Test Series to be held in Mumbai on December 8, 2016," BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke said in a release.

"The BCCI medical team has confirmed that wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha is still recuperating from the strain in his left thigh, which he sustained during the second Test match at Vizag," the release said.
