New Delhi: Railway traffic has been badly hit amid the ongoing row over the Agneepath scheme and the Bharat Bandh. In the wake of the ongoing protests against the Agneepath scheme, the Indian Railways has cancelled hundreds of trains across the country in different zones. In which the wheels of a total of 539 trains, including passenger and express, have come to a standstill today (Monday) i.e. on June 20. At the same time, RPF commandos have been deployed at various places including New Delhi railway station for security reasons.
In fact, in the ongoing protest against the Agneepath scheme, the protesters have targeted the railways. While trains were set on fire in many parts of the country, including Bihar, there has also been heavy vandalism at the stations. In such a situation, during the Bharat Bandh on Monday, the Indian Railways has increased the security of railway stations as a precautionary measure. At the same time, hundreds of trains have been cancelled. Passengers are stranded at several railway stations including New Delhi. Rahul, a resident of Nalanda district of Bihar, has been staying with his family at the railway station for three days, as the train by which he has to travel is getting cancelled daily for the last three days. Many passengers are camping at the railway station itself. Madhya Pradesh Police, RPF, GRP as well as Railway Protection Committee personnel have also been deployed at Bhopal railway station.
According to the Indian Railways, as per the update till 8 am today due to the ruckus on Agneepath, 539 trains have been cancelled in a day across the country. This includes 181 mail express and 348 passenger trains. While 4 mail express and 6 passenger trains have been partially cancelled. According to the Northern Railways, 71 trains in Delhi have been completely cancelled today i.e. on June 20.
