BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Centre for Brain Research on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science on Monday (IISc). The Prime Minister also attended the laying of the foundation stone for Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital.
The Centre for Brain Research was built at a cost of Rs 280 crore, and it would conduct critical research in rural Karnataka in order to provide suitable, evidence-based public health treatments to delay the development and decrease the progression of dementia.
Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital, a non-profit hospital with 832-beds, will cost Rs 425 crore to construct. This will bring research, engineering, and medicine together on a single campus, allowing IISc to capitalise on its century of scientific and engineering expertise.
The event was attended by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and Union Minister for Coal, Mining, and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi. Donors to the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital, Chris Gopalakrishnan and his wife, as well as Bagchi and Parthasarathy family members, were all there.
The Prime Minister sent out a tweet in Kannada explaining the programmes he is participating in the state.
