New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday signed a contract with Tata Consultancy Services Limited for the second phase (PSP-V2.0) of the Passport Seva Programme, which provides for data security and customer experiences to be taken to the next level. According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, it is working to set up a Passport Seva Kendra in every Lok Sabha constituency where there is no Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra already available.

It is reported that the government will work on a technology upgradation scheme using biometrics, artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics and automatic response under the Passport Seva programme. It may be mentioned that Tata Consultancy Services Limited has been associated as a service provider in the Passport Seva Project for more than 10 years. The second phase (PSP-V2.0) of the Passport Seva Programme will be extended beyond (PSP-V1.0), an initiative of the Ministry to provide passport related services to consumers as an e-governance tool.

According to the Ministry, its project design ensures that service providers support work such as citizen connectivity, technology base, call centres, training and management changes. The government will continue to do all sovereign and security related work in the process of issuing passports.
