Kiran Karmarkar, who play the lead role of Om Agarwal in the popular show, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. A lot of famous television shows had re-run during the lockdown. He gets nostalgic as he shares how they used to shoot in the Balaji House when the show started in 2000. He says, "We have huge sets nowadays and people go to far off places for shooting, but for the serial,  Kahaani in those days, we used to shoot on one of the floors of the office in the production house and there was no elaborated set then. We had to shoot for the show on the same floor for three years before we moved to a proper set. The show then made history because it continued for nine years. Today a show runs for nine months or maximum a year with a lot of investment and huge sets."

Kiran is interested to see if the re-runs of the show will be accepted by the new generation or no. He says, "The older women and the middle-age generation, who had watched the show at that time might again sit down to watch it but I would like to find out if the young generation, who have found different mediums to enjoy, would want to see it as much. It was a simple show then and the story line was much more interesting than what we see on television nowadays. There were no over-the-top dramatic scenes or screaming scenes, no elaborated or extravagant heavy costumes or heavy jewellery unlike shows of nowadays. Talking further about the situation at that time, he says, "We used to do a lot of work at that time, but there was no drama made about it. Having said that, I am not saying that the shows now are not great but everyone is caught up in a weird circle. People are continuing to make the same story and viewers continue watching it because they are getting used to it. We are not doing anything so unlike because viewers are not watching it."

He is happy that there are different mediums now, but he does not feel that one is better than the other. He says, "Just because I got a show on one of the OTT platforms, I will not continue doing OTT shows. TV shows have heavy roles and they also have good pay for actors. So, I have done three shows in the last two years, (Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein, Zindagi Mere Ghar Aana and Spy Bahu) and I have enjoyed shooting for them. Even if my role in Spy Bahu is not big, I enjoy shooting for it because I am not playing a father or uncle in the show."

The actor has come a long way since the time he started acting. He says, "I have been in the show business for more than two decades and for me, the biggest compliment is when a person like Rajendra Gupta says, 'Arre Kiran, you are doing great work in a television show,' or when I watch the re-run of Kahaani and feel I could improve that scene. We used to look raw at that time but in terms of acting, I feel we all did a nice job."
