Actually, 11 people lost their lives due to the leakage of poisonous gas here. Seven of these are from Bihar. Four other people have also fallen ill due to the gas leak, they are being treated. The reasons for the gas leak are yet to be ascertained. Ludhiana's Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik has said that there is a possibility that some chemicals in the sewer may have reacted with methane gas. He told that the area has been evacuated and the scope of the siege of the leak site has been increased after the gas spread.

Among those who died, 5 were from Gaya and two from Vaishali: Among the people of Bihar who lost their lives in this accident, Kavilash Yadav and 4 other members of his family of Majhiyawan tola Dhanu Bigha of Konch block of Gaya district and Sarai police station of Vaishali district The names of Navneet and wife Neetu Devi of Sheetal Bhakurhar of the area have also been added. Kavilash was living in Gyaspura Ludhiana for 20 years.
