The price gap between the states is deepening amid rising petrol and diesel prices. Both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which have charged the highest VAT on petrol diesel, have crossed the 100 mark. In Uttar Pradesh, petrol is now cheaper than these two states. Even though oil companies have not hiked petrol diesel prices on Saturday, the huge price difference in the inhabited states is still bothering the people.

Coming to the very expensive petrol in the country, it is being available at Sriganganagar in Rajasthan. Petrol prices had gone up to Rs 108.07 on Friday. Diesel is also here at Rs 100.82. On the other hand, coming to Anuppur in Madhya Pradesh, petrol is also at Rs 107.71 and diesel at Rs 98.74. On the other hand, petrol is at Rs 94.14 and diesel at Rs 88.10 per litre in UP capital Lucknow. Petrol is about Rs 14 cheaper in Lucknow and about Rs 13.5 as compared to Anuppur as compared to Ganganagar.

Tell me, a large border of Madhya Pradesh is with Uttar Pradesh. Dholpur district of Rajasthan is adjacent to Uttar Pradesh border. Since last March, there has been a stir in 5 states of the country for assembly elections. Due to which the price of petrol and diesel did not go up even after crude oil was expensive. However, in the meantime, the price of petrol and diesel has come down in four instalments after crude oil becomes cheaper. This made petrol cheaper by 77 paise per litre.
