Chandigarh: Petrol pumps in Haryana are scheduled to remain closed on November 15. Haryana Petrol-Diesel Dealers Association has declared a strike. The All Haryana Petroleum Dealers Association has said that petrol pumps will be closed 24 hours a day on November 15.  Under this, petrol and diesel are not going to be available from 6 am on November 15 to 6 am on November 16. 130 petrol pumps in the Jhajjar district are also going to be closed. There is a demand from the Petrol Pump Association that vat on petrol and diesel in Haryana should be reduced to the equivalent of reduced VAT in the state of Punjab. Petrol pump operators are also demanding compensation for the loss caused by the reduction in exercise duty.

Reduction in Exide duty damages petrol pump operators: According to media reports, the central government on November 3 reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel.  Excise duty on petrol was reduced by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 10 per litre. In such a situation, due to full stock at petrol pumps, the operator per pump had to pay a loss of up to Rs 5 lakh.

Where dealers have said that about 20,000 litres of petrol and 40,000 litres of diesel are stocked at a petrol pump. In that case, they have suffered a huge loss. In addition, petrol pump dealers are also demanding a ban on the sale of fake diesel in the name of bio-diesel. It also demanded an increase in the commission on petrol and diesel, saying there has been no increase in dealer commissions since 2017. Petrol pump dealers have warned that the strike is going to continue if the demand is not fulfilled. It may be recalled that petrol and diesel prices in Punjab, Himachal and Chandigarh are lower than in Haryana.
