Imphal: An army contingent has been attacked by militants in IED Manipur. The ambushed militants are said to have attacked army personnel. Five jawans including the CO of Assam Rifles have been killed in the attack. Two members of the officer's family were also killed in the attack.
The terrorists are said to have carried out the attack at Singhat in the Churachandpur district of Manipur. The convoy of the Commanding Officer of Assam Rifles was targeted by terrorists here. The convoy was attended by the commanding officer's family members and members of the Quick Action Team. CO, three quick action team personnel and two family members of the CO lost their lives in the terror attack. The state's People's Liberation Army (PLA) is said to be behind the terror attack. In a tweet, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote that the cowardly attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur is extremely painful and condemnable. The country lost 5 soldiers, including CO and two members of his family.
Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh tweeted, "Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on a convoy of 46 Assam Rifles, killing some jawans including CO and his family. State forces and paramilitary forces are already conducting operations against terrorists. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.''
