With the onset of the monsoon, the demand for petrol-diesel is also witnessing a decline. This news has been revealed from the data released by the industry on Sunday. Due to the onset of monsoon, the fuel usage in many sectors has come down. At the same time, due to the decrease in the movement, its demand is also showing a decline.

Demand for diesel fell 13.7 per cent: Consumption of the most widely used fuel, diesel, declined by 13.7 per cent to 3.16 lakh tonnes during July 1-15, from 3.67 lakh tonnes in the same period last month.

Monsoon brings down demand: Reports say that diesel demand in the country depends heavily on the monsoon. It is usually engaged in demanding diesel in the July-September quarter as compared to April-June. While the movement decreases due to floods, the use of diesel in the agricultural area is also reduced due to the rains. Diesel is also being used to run pumps for irrigation in the agricultural sector, but it is not required during the monsoon.
