Oil companies today have not changed the prices of petrol and diesel following the hike in petrol prices across the country on Monday. Oil companies had hiked the price of petrol by 35 paise a litre on Monday. While diesel prices did not change. Petrol price in Delhi was Rs 99.86 per litre on July 06, while diesel was priced at Rs 89.36 per litre.
The same is close to scoring a century in the capital after rising petrol prices on Monday. Petrol has reached Rs 100 per litre in the capital Delhi. Oil companies on Monday hiked petrol prices by 35 paise a litre. However, there was no increase in diesel prices. Petrol has reached its all-time high of Rs 99.86 per litre in Delhi following this hike in petrol prices. Diesel is at Rs 89.36 per litre. Petrol prices have also gone up to Rs 99.84 per litre in Kolkata.
Petrol has crossed Rs 100 per litre in many other metros. Petrol is being sold at Rs 105.92 per litre in Mumbai and Rs 100.75 per litre in Chennai. 55 per cent tax on the retail price of petrol in Delhi (excise duty of Rs 32.90 per litre charged by the Centre and VAT of Rs 22.80 imposed by the state government). On the other hand, about 50 per cent of diesel prices are taxed (Rs 31.80 excise duty and Rs 13.04 VAT). The retail price of petrol in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab, Ladakh and Sikkim has crossed Rs 100 per litre.
