Manila: The Philippine Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said on Friday that the country will soon allow fully-vaccinated international visitors from over 40 "green" or Covid-19 low-risk countries and areas to enter Philipines.
The Philipines government is currently finalising the criteria, including the exact date for the reopening, according to Nograles, co-chair of the interagency coronavirus task force. According to reports, he stated at a virtual press conference that the decision to "open up our coasts" to international tourists from safe locations is part of the country's "calibrated reopening of the economy."
According to Nograles, the tourism sector contributes significantly to the economy, and permitting international visitors will boost the country's recovery from the pandemic. On Friday, the Philippines' Department of Health reported 1,485 new Covid-19 infections, increasing the country's total number of confirmed cases to 2,823,210.
