Coronavirus is wreaking havoc all around the world. The Philippines is also facing the corona virus.  According to the Department of Health (DOH), the country reported 1,339 new confirmed cases of corona infection on Monday, with which the corona tally reaches to  450,733. 41 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 418,723. The death toll surged to 8,757 after 24 more patients died.

According to the DOH, it had tested over 5.87 million people so far since the disease emerged in the country in January. The Philippines has a population of about 110 million. Health Secretary Francisco Duque said the government's efforts to focus on strengthening its capacity to test, detect and isolate those infected to stop the spreading of the virus. Duque, however, asked the public to continue their vigilance as the risk of infection is still high.

The overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped 72.2 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.61 million. The current global caseload and death toll stood at 72,201,716 and 1,611,758, respectively.
