Plane crashes in Philippine’s Manila, pilot killed

Manila: According to Philippine aviation officials, a small plane crashed during an orientation trip in the Philippines' Pangasinan province in northern Manila on Wednesday morning, killing the pilot and injuring another.

According to accounts, the fatality was on board a Cessna 152-type aircraft with his pupil when the plane went down around 9 a.m. local time in Alaminos town, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

The jet took off on an orientation flight from Lingayen airport in Pangasinan at 8.22 a.m. local time, according to the CAAP. According to the CAAP, investigators have been despatched to the areas to establish the cause of the crash.

Earlier in July, a similar incident occurred in Manila with  A Philippine Air Force plane carrying 96 soldiers and crew members aboard crashed on the southern island of Jolo. At least 50 people were killed, including three civilians on the ground, and it was feared that the toll would climb.
