New Delhi: The High Court on Monday urged the High Court to hear a PIL seeking a stay on construction of the Central Vista, the central government's ambitious project, amid the onset of the devastating corona epidemic in Delhi. Earlier, the Supreme Court had on Friday asked the petitioner to approach the high court if they wants an early hearing in the case.

High Court Chief Justice D.N. sought an early hearing in this case before a bench of Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh, senior advocate Siddharth Luthra on behalf of the petitioner referred to the Supreme Court. On this, the bench asked him to file a petition first. On this, Luthra said that the Supreme Court had on May 7 asked the petitioners to move the high court if they want an early hearing on the petition.

Ananya Malhotra and Sohail Hashmi had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the May 4 high court order seeking a stay on the construction of the Central Vista. the HC had heard the matter in the said order on May 17. The high court in its order had also said that it wanted to look into the January 5 verdict passed by the Supreme Court earlier. The court had said that it wanted to see what the Supreme Court had said about the project.
