Kochi: A man has filed a petition in the high court against guidelines on the exit of his house only after the Kerala government took at least one vaccine to prevent coronavirus. The court on Monday issued a notice on the petition and directed the state government to apprise it of its stand. The petitioner says he has not got the vaccine done due to allergy to the drug and the new rule is like 'detaining' him in a way.
Justice PB Suresh Kumar asked the counsel appearing for the state government to take directions on what can be done in the case as the petitioner claims that he lives alone and has no one to help him buy essential materials including groceries. The court also listed the matter for hearing on Tuesday. The court was initially taking the matter for hearing along with other petitions challenging the state government's August 4 guidelines, but when the petitioner's counsel said his client was alone, the court decided to hear the matter on Tuesday.
The petitioner claimed that he was suffering from drug allergies and hence has not taken a single dose of any of the two covid-19 vaccines available in the country. It has urged the court to direct the state administrator to check the vaccine on it to assess whether they are allergic to it or not.
