New Delhi: A petition has been filed in Supreme Court seeking a stay on the Amarnath Yatra to be held this year. A petition has been filed by the Amarnath Barfani Langars Organisation, which states that the Amarnath Pilgrimage attracts more than 10 lakh devotees Annually. With the involvement of such a large number of people, the risk of spreading  Coronavirus would more.

The petition demanded that the arrival of devotees at such a large number should be ceased for some time at Amarnath Pilgrimage and asked the government to arrange live telecast of Baba Barfani in Amarnath cave through internet and TV channels so that crores of devotees can visit Baba Barfani even during the Coronavirus period. Amarnath Barfani Langars Organisation said in the petition that cancelling travel to the Amarnath Pilgrimage is in the interest of the devotees only and instructed that to prevail the spread, it is necessary for both the Pilgrims and the administration to cease the Amarnath Pilgrimage.

During the Amarnath Pilgrimage, the gathering of police, Security Forces, Labourers, Horsemen, Luggage Carriers, and Shopkeepers' lives will be in danger and so the travel should be ceased this year. Now with some lesser restrictions on movements of people, preparations are being made for starting the Amarnath Pilgrimage. For this, complete security arrangements are made. This time, to reach Amarnath only the Baltal route is accessible. A trip through helicopter can also be arranged, but so far no decision has been taken on it.
