Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his cabinet colleagues on taking the oath of office on Monday, expressing confidence that they will provide good administration to the people of the state and expand on the pro-people work done in the previous decade.

In the presence of Modi and other dignitaries, Sawant, a three-time MLA who led the BJP to 20 seats in the recently ended elections to the 40-member Goa Assembly, was sworn in as the state's chief minister for the second time on Monday.

In a ceremony held at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee stadium in Bambolim near Panaji, four kilometres from the Raj Bhavan, Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai swore Sawant (48) and eight other BJP MLAs in as cabinet ministers. During the event, almost 10,000 people were present the oath taking ceremony.
