Shillong: PM Narendra Modi reached Meghalaya on Sunday morning. He attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council in Shillong. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Governors and Chief Ministers of all the North Eastern states, and other dignitaries were present in the function. At the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council, a short film on the 50-year journey of the Council was screened in front of Prime Minister Modi. 

On the same occasion, PM Narendra Modi released the commemorative book 'Golden Footprints' mentioning the contribution of NEC in the development of the North Eastern region in the last 50 years. Inaugurated and laid foundation stones of several projects worth more than Rs 2,450 crore in the state. He laid the foundation stone of 4 road projects here, which will pass through Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. To further improve telecom connectivity in Meghalaya, dedicated 4G towers to the state, out of which more than 320 have been completed and about 890 are under construction. 

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong at Umsawali. He also inaugurated a 'Spawn Laboratory' and an Integrated Beekeeping Development Center at the Mushroom Development Center in Shillong. Apart from this, he also inaugurated 21 Hindi libraries in Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, and Assam from Shillong itself. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of Phase 2 of Shillong Technology Park.
