NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with his UK counterpart Boris Johnson on Tuesday, an official statement said. They addressed the situation in Ukraine.

According to the statement, the two leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine in detail, with Modi reiterating India's constant call for an end to hostilities and a return to the road of dialogue and diplomacy.

He reaffirmed India's commitment to international law, as well as to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, as the foundations of the present world order. Additionally, the two leaders discussed bilateral matters and agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in a range of aspects, including commerce, technology, investment, defence and security, and people-to-people connections.

The Indian Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the current bilateral Free Trade Agreement negotiations. He also lauded work in implementing the 'India-UK Roadmap 2030' set during last year's Virtual Summit between the two leaders. He expressed his intention to meet Johnson in India as soon as possible, at their mutual convenience.
