NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kick-started the Parliament Special Session on Monday and bid farewell to the venerable historical edifice that has housed the legislative proceedings for years. In his address to the Lok Sabha, PM Modi reminisced, "This venerable institution once served as the seat of the Imperial Legislative Council, pre-independence. Today, we bid adieu to this iconic structure, which, post-independence, has earned the distinguished title of Parliament House."

Acknowledging the historical context, he remarked, "It is undeniable that the initial decision to erect this structure was made by foreign rulers. However, we must never forget, and take immense pride in acknowledging, that the sweat, labor, and resources that breathed life into this construction were contributed by our fellow countrymen."

The five-day special parliamentary session is scheduled to transition to the new parliamentary complex on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, starting tomorrow, Tuesday.

Reflecting on the momentous occasion, PM Modi asserted, "This marks a moment to forge ahead while cherishing the 75-year parliamentary journey. Presently, the world reverberates with the accomplishments of all Indians. This reflects the collective achievements attained over 75 years of our parliamentary history."

PM Modi went on to celebrate India's technological prowess, saying, "The triumph of Chandrayaan-3 has not only filled our nation with pride but has also resonated globally. It showcases India's prowess in technology, science, the potential of our brilliant scientists, and the resilience of our 1.4 billion-strong nation. Today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations once more to our dedicated scientists."

Touching upon the recent G20 Summit, PM Modi expressed gratitude, saying, "I am deeply thankful for the unanimous endorsement of the G20's success today. It's crucial to recognize that the triumph of the G20 is a collective achievement of India's 1.4 billion citizens. It is not the success of an individual or a political party; rather, it's a celebration for all of us."

In this moment of transition, PM Modi encapsulated the spirit of progress and unity, underlining the growth of a dynamic and vibrant nation that continually evolves while honoring its rich history.
