New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with members of the Indian cricket team on Sunday, congratulating them on their thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup final.

During the phone call, Prime Minister Modi commended Rohit Sharma for his outstanding captaincy and lauded his impressive T20I career. He gave a special mention to Virat Kohli, who played a crucial innings of 76 runs, acknowledging his immense contributions to Indian cricket. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Rahul Dravid, who stepped down as head coach following India's triumph, for his significant role in the team's success.

PM Modi praised Hardik Pandya for his last-over heroics and Suryakumar Yadav for his game-changing catch to dismiss South African batter David Miller. He also highlighted Jasprit Bumrah's vital contributions throughout the T20 World Cup and his impact on Indian cricket.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi released a video message celebrating the team's victory. "CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian cricket team. This match was HISTORIC," he tweeted, accompanied by a congratulatory video message.
