New Delhi: The atmosphere at the Rozgar Mela was electrifying as Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the virtual stage to personally hand out over 70,000 appointment letters to the newly inducted recruits. This significant event, conducted via video conferencing, marked a momentous occasion for the young professionals who were about to embark on their journeys as government employees.
Addressing the enthusiastic appointees during the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,' the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude, stating, "Working as a government employee during the nation's path to development is a great honor. The people of this country have collectively resolved to make India a fully developed nation."
Looking forward to India's future, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the next 25 years. He pointed out that experts predict India will soon rise among the world's top three economies, leading to increased employment opportunities and higher per capita income for its citizens.
However, amidst the celebrations, PM Modi did not shy away from addressing past challenges. He criticized the previous government's mismanagement of the banking sector, saying, "Nine years ago, our banking sector faced tremendous turmoil. Today, it stands as one of the strongest globally. We have embraced digital transactions, a privilege that was once reserved for a select few. In the past, specific families enjoyed undue access to loans worth crores, which were never repaid. This 'phone banking scam' was one of the biggest during the previous government's tenure."
The Rozgar Mela spanned across 44 locations nationwide, covering both Central Government Departments and various State Governments and UTs in support of this initiative. The selected recruits, hailing from diverse regions of the country, will be joining the Government in esteemed Ministries and Departments, including Revenue, Financial Services, Posts, School Education, Higher Education, Defence, Health and Family Welfare, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Water Resources, Personnel & Training, and Home Affairs, among others.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the Rozgar Mela aims to prioritize employment generation and empower the youth to actively participate in the nation's development. It is expected to act as a catalyst in furthering employment opportunities and meaningful growth.
This inspiring initiative traces back to October 22 of the previous year when Prime Minister Modi launched the first phase of the 'Rozgar Mela,' signaling the beginning of the campaign to provide 10 lakh government jobs. The journey has now reached a remarkable milestone, as the government continues its commitment to create more opportunities and foster a prosperous future for the nation.
