NEW DELHI:  Ahead of the virtual BRICS summit to be hosted by China starting on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is the fastest-growing global economy with an anticipated 7.5% growth this year.

The virtual BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Summit to be hosted by China commencing on Thursday. He said the government's slogan of "reform, perform, and transform" was accountable for the success and predicted that India's digital economy will be worth USD 1 trillion by 2025. He said that no other country in the world has ever seen the digital economy grow so rapidly.

In a keynote speech that was recorded, Prime Minister stated that the government of India has created a national master plan to develop infrastructure and that there is potential for investments totalling USD 1.5 trillion in its national infrastructure.

The PM urged that a channel for communication with Indian start-ups be established via the BRICS Business Forum. The growing strength of Indian start-ups, he noted, is evidence that India currently has the strongest innovation ecosystem in the world.
