New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveyed his great concern over the violence and destruction against government buildings in Brasilia on Monday.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “Deeply concerned over the news of rioting and vandalism against the State institutions in Brasilia. Democratic traditions must be respected by everyone. Inidia extend our full support to the Brazilian authorities,"

Joe Biden expressed aungish over the matter, "I deplore Brazil's attempt to undermine democracy and a transition of power through peaceful means. We fully support Brazil's democratic institutions, and the will of the Brazilian people must not be disregarded. I'm eager to go on working with @LulaOficial."

Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the UN, denounced the "attack on Brazil's democratic institutions." He emphasised the importance of respecting democratic institutions as well as the will of the Brazilian people.

"I strongly disapprove of today's attack on Brazil's democratic institutions. Respect must be shown for democratic institutions as well as the Brazilian people's will. I am very certain that it will. Brazil is a fantastic democracy, " Guterres Tweetes.

On Sunday, Jair Bolsonaro's supporters broke into the country's legislative building, supreme court, and presidential palace.

The breaches occur approximately a week after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office. On October 30, Lula defeated Bolsonaro in a runoff election.

According to Al Jazeera, videos posted on social media on Sunday showed Bolsonaro supporters damaging furniture and windows in the National Congress and Supreme Court buildings.

They ascended to the roof of the Congress building, which houses Brazil's Senate and Chamber of Deputies, and spread out a banner that read "intervention" and appeared to be a plea to the country's military.

Images on the television network Globo News also depicted demonstrators wandering about the presidential palace, many of them donning the Brazilian flag's primary colours of green and yellow, which have come to represent the Bolsonaro administration.

Al Jazeera claimed that security personnel deployed tear gas in an effort to disperse the protesters, with local media estimating that roughly 3,000 individuals were part in the incident.
