Prime Minister Modi was in New York on Sunday to speak at the “Modi and US” event at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. Around 15,000 members of the Indian diaspora from 42 states came together to welcome the Prime Minister. Afterg his impactful address to the Indian diaspora at Nassau Coliseum in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his thanks to the city on Monday.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi thanked the crowd in New York for attending the event and shared moments from the memorable gathering. “Thank you, New York! These are glimpses from the memorable community programme. Grateful to all those who joined,” he said in his post.
During his speech, PM Modi touched on various aspects of India-US relations, emphasizing the strong people-to-people connections and India’s growing global influence and economic development.
In his opening remarks, he praised the Indian diaspora for their contributions worldwide. During his over one-hour-long address, he spoke about India’s transformation into a key player in mobile manufacturing, moving from being an importer to an exporter, and how the adoption of digital public infrastructure is rapidly advancing. He also mentioned that "Made in India" chips would soon be available in the United States.
Later on Sunday, PM Modi met with the CEOs of top US-based companies, focusing on strengthening collaborations in fields like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. He emphasized India’s potential for growth and discussed ways to enhance innovation across various sectors.
Following his interactions with business leaders, the Prime Minister held bilateral talks with the Nepali Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. Both leaders reviewed the close relationship between India and Nepal and expressed satisfaction with progress in areas like development cooperation, hydropower, connectivity, and people-to-people ties.
PM Modi congratulated Nepal on becoming the 101st country to join the International Solar Alliance and highlighted the need for a regional approach to address climate change. He reaffirmed Nepal's importance to India’s "Neighbourhood First" policy, and both leaders looked forward to further strengthening their bilateral relationship.
On social media, PM Modi said, “Had a very good meeting with Prime Minister KP Oli in New York. The India-Nepal friendship is very robust, and we look forward to adding even more momentum to our ties. Our talks focused on energy, technology, and trade.”
Nepal’s Prime Minister Oli also shared his positive view of the meeting, describing it as "fruitful" and noting the discussions on various bilateral matters.
PM Modi also engaged in talks with Kuwait’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in areas such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, technology, and energy.
The Prime Minister emphasized India’s strong bilateral relationship with Kuwait, recalling the historical ties between the two countries and their mutual support in the areas of energy and food security. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening and diversifying these ties for mutual benefit. PM Modi also thanked the Crown Prince for ensuring the well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait, the largest diaspora group in the country.
Following the meeting, PM Modi shared on social media, “The talks with His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, were very productive. We discussed how to add vigour to India-Kuwait ties in sectors like pharma, food processing, technology, energy, and more.”
