New Delhi: There was a tremendous increase in the strength of the Indian Navy today when Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to the Navy. The specialty of INS Vikrant is that it is an indigenous warship. It started being built in the year 2009. Now after 13 it has reached the Indian Navy. Along with this, PM Modi also unveiled the new Ensign (mark) of the Indian Navy. The new Ensign of Indian NAV is a takeaway from the colonial past and infused with the Indian Maritime Heritage.

Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) Vikrant has 14 decks with 2,300 compartments, which can carry around 1,500 jawans and to satisfy their food requirement, around 10,000 rotis can be made in its kitchen. The battleship is fitted with four gas turbines of 88 MW power and has a maximum speed of 28 knots. It has been prepared at an expenditure of 20,000 crores. The entire project has progressed in three phases of a deal between the Ministry of Defense and CSL. It was concluded in May 2007, December 2014 and October 2019. It is a wonderful example of "Atmanirbhar Bharat", which emphasizes the 'Make in India' initiative.

Let us know that the total weight of INS Vikrant is 45000 tonnes. That is, in its construction, four times more iron and steel than the weight of the Eiffel Tower in France have been used. Not only this, its length is 262 meters and width is 62 meters. That is, it can accommodate two football fields. The first indigenous warship has 76% indigenous equipment. BrahMos missile with a range of 450 km will also be deployed on it. It has 2400 km of cable. That is, the cable is so long that it can reach Delhi from Kochi.

30 aircraft can be deployed in IAC Vikrant (Indigenous Aircraft Carrier). Along with this, the MiG-29K fighter jet can also play a role in anti-air, anti-surface and land attack by flying. With this Kamov 31 helicopter can also fly. With Vikrant joining the Navy, India has now joined the countries that have the capability to design and build indigenous aircraft carriers.
