Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Ayodhya on Saturday, greeted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel.
The purpose of his visit is to inaugurate the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya Dham Airport, along with the revamped railway station. This visit precedes the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple scheduled for January 22.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is slated to inaugurate the renovated Ayodhya railway station and launch new Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains. Additionally, he will dedicate several railway projects to the nation.
At approximately 12:15 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed Ayodhya airport. Following this, around 1 pm, he will partake in a public program where he is expected to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects valued at over Rs 15,000 crore in the state. Among these are projects totaling about Rs 11,100 crore for Ayodhya's development and surrounding areas, as well as projects valued at about Rs 4600 crore for other initiatives across Uttar Pradesh.
The first phase of the modern airport has been completed at a cost exceeding Rs 1450 crore. The terminal building, spanning 6500 sqm, is equipped to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers annually. Notably, the terminal's facade mirrors the architectural style of the forthcoming Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Internally, the terminal boasts local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram. Moreover, sustainability features have been incorporated, including an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaped areas with fountains, water treatment and sewage treatment plants, a solar power unit, and more, ensuring a GRIHA 5-star rating.
The airport is anticipated to enhance regional connectivity, fostering increased tourism, business activities, and employment prospects.
Phase I of the renovated Ayodhya Railway Station, known as Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, has been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 240 crore. The contemporary three-story railway station is equipped with modern amenities such as lifts, escalators, food plazas, shops catering to religious needs, cloakrooms, childcare rooms, and waiting halls. It has been designed to be 'accessible for all' and is an 'IGBC-certified green station building'.
Prime Minister Modi's vision for Ayodhya involves developing modern, world-class infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and refurbishing civic amenities while preserving the city's rich history and heritage. This vision is being realized through the inauguration of a new airport, a revamped railway station, widened roads, and other civic infrastructure initiatives.
Furthermore, foundation stones for several upcoming projects will contribute to the beautification and enhancement of civic facilities in and around the temple town.
