GUJRAT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone for a manufacturing plant in Vadodara, Gujarat, for the C-295 military transport aircraft, which is expected to cost USD 22,000 crores.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that India is growing stronger thanks to its "Make in India, make for the World" policy.
Officials from the Defense Ministry claim that TATA-Airbus will produce the C-295 transport plane. Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran both congratulated PM Modi and gave him a gift.

Also, this is the nation's first occasion for the private sector to lay the cornerstone for an aircraft manufacturing facility.
Modern aircraft with improved capabilities and international standards will be produced at this Gujarati facility for the C-295. The project will also greatly improve the Indian Air Force's logistical capacity.
significance of the TATA-Airbus transport aircraft manufacturing plant:- According to a joint statement from Tata and Airbus, the C-295 manufacturing plant is "the first private sector Make in India aerospace venture to involve the full creation of a whole industrial ecosystem." The entire lifecycle of the aeroplane, from manufacture to assembly, test, and qualification, to delivery and maintenance, is covered.
In accordance with the conditions of the agreement between TATA-Airbus and the Government of India, 16 C-295 aircraft are expected to be delivered in flyaway condition between September 2023 and August 2025. The Vadodara facility will produce the remaining 40 aircraft.
