Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant visit to Kashmir, marking his first since the abrogation of Article 370. In this landmark trip, he launched development projects exceeding Rs.6,400 crore and addressed a public gathering. Among the notable initiatives, PM Modi dedicated a Rs.5,000 crore program aimed at enhancing the agricultural economy in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he inaugurated nationwide projects focusing on tourism, valued at over Rs.1,400 crore under the 'Swadesh Darshan' and 'PRASHAD' schemes. One highlight includes a project for the comprehensive development of the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar.

PM Modi's last visit to the Kashmir Valley dates back over five years ago, preceding the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On March 7, at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, he unveiled and dedicated 53 projects amounting to Rs.6,400 crores.

Expressing his observations, PM Modi shared a tweet stating, "Upon reaching Srinagar a short while ago, had the opportunity to see the majestic Shankaracharya Hill from a distance."

Furthermore, PM Modi engaged in distributing appointment letters to nearly 1,000 newly recruited government employees in Jammu and Kashmir. He also interacted with beneficiaries of various central schemes, including women achievers, farmers, and entrepreneurs.

However, the visit wasn't without controversy. Former Chief Minister Mehebooba Mufti accused the government of coercing employees to attend the rally, alleging a forced attempt to portray a positive image post-Article 370 abrogation. She contrasted this with previous visits by former Prime Ministers during the insurgency, where people attended with hope in their hearts.

Amidst such debates, PM Modi arrived at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium for the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir' program, where he unveiled numerous development projects. Additionally, he took time to meet local entrepreneurs and craftsmen, engaging with them directly.

Prime Minister Modi's visit signifies a continued focus on development initiatives in the region, albeit amidst ongoing debates and controversies.
