New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a public rally in the Kumaon region, Uttarakhand, ahead of the 2019 Uttarakhand Assembly elections,  during his second visit to the state later this month, according to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials.

According to sources, PM Modi is planning a second trip to Uttarakhand this month, following his December 4 visit. "A public meeting is planned to take place in Haldwani, Uttarakhand's Kumaon region, during his next visit, which will begin on December 24," sources added.

On December 4, Prime Minister Modi will visit Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a number of projects totalling over Rs 18,000 crore. PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for eleven development projects, according to a statement provided by the Prime Minister's Office.

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor (from Eastern Peripheral Expressway Junction to Dehradun) will cost about Rs 8300 crore to construct. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for Dehradun's Child-Friendly City Project, which will make the city more child-friendly by making the roadways safer for them to travel on. A foundation stone will also be placed for projects worth over Rs 700 crore in Dehradun related to the improvement of water supplies, roads, and drainage systems.
