NEW DELHI: On the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with his British counterpart Rishi Sunak. During their meeting, the two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the current status of the extensive India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the development of the Roadmap 2030 for Future Relations.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, "the two leaders emphasized the significance of working together in bilateral and international settings, including the G20 and the Commonwealth."

This was the first meeting between the two leaders since Sunak took charge of office last month. PM Modi congratulated Rishi Sunak on assuming office. The discussions between the two leaders covered upon key sectors of collaboration such as trade, mobility, defence and security.

Sunak approved 3,000 visas for young professionals from India to work in the UK annually earlier on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the UK Prime Minister's Office, "India is the first visa-national country to benefit from such a scheme, highlighting the strength of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership agreed upon last year."
Meanwhile, Modi congratulated Giorgia Meloni on becoming the nation's first prime minister during his meeting with her. "The two presidents talked about strengthening bilateral ties in a number of areas, including trade, investment, anti-terrorism, and interpersonal relationships. They also discussed topics of common interest, the PMO statement said. "Modi looks forward to hosting Prime Minister Meloni to India next year for the G20 summit and commemorating the 75th anniversary of India-Italy diplomatic relations."
