Chennai: As part of his 11-day ritual leading up to the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Arichal Munai in Tamil Nadu's Dhanushkodi on Sunday. This location is believed to be the site where the Ram Setu, a bridge associated with Lord Ram, is said to have been constructed.
At Arichal Munai, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes at the spot where it is believed Lord Ram built a bridge to reach Lanka. Following this, PM Modi is scheduled to offer prayers at the Sri Kothandarama Swamy Temple in Dhanushkodi, marking the fourth temple with a connection to the Ramayana where he will seek blessings. On Saturday, PM Modi visited the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Sri Rangam in Trichy, another ancient shrine linked to the Ramayana. During his visit, he listened to scholars reciting the 'Kamba' Ramayana.
The Prime Minister's arrival in Tamil Nadu on Friday was marked by a grand roadshow in Chennai. However, during the roadshow, three Youth Congress workers were reported to have waved black balloons at PM Modi, leading to Chennai Police registering a case against them. This visit to Tamil Nadu's temples with connections to the Ramayana precedes the consecration of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for Monday.
