New Delhi: Rajeev Topno, Personal Secretary to PM Narendra Modi, has been made Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington. His tenure in the World Bank will be for three years. Rajiv Topno is a 1996 batch Gujarat cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Rajiv Topno has worked as the prime aide of PM Narendra Modi and now he is going to take up this important international post.
Rajiv Topno, an IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, joined the Prime Minister's Office in 2009. At that time, he took over as the Deputy Secretary in the PMO and this was the time when former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh started his second term. When PM Narendra Modi became Prime Minister for the first time in the year 2014, he chose Rajiv Topno for his personal staff and made Rajiv Topno private secretary.
Approval has been given today by the Appointments Committee headed by PM Modi for the next assignment of Topno. The committee has also approved the names of five other officers for a foreign assignment. Ravi Kota has been appointed to the post of Economic Minister in the Indian Embassy in Washington. Lekhan Thakkar has been appointed as the Economic Counselor at the Beijing Embassy.
