New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi arrived at the National War Memorial today to attend a felicitation programme to honour the Golden Victory Torch on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. On arriving at the felicitation ceremony, the Prime Minister paid homage to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war. He mixed the four torches with a torch-lit at the National War Memorial. It may be recalled that these torches were rotated all over India.

People are proud of the brave warriors who wrote unique tales of valour. Recalling the valour and sacrifice of Indian armed forces soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "On the 50th Victory Day, I remember the valour and sacrifice of the liberating warriors, heroes and brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. Together, we fought and conquered the oppressive forces. The Presence of the President in Dhaka holds special significance for every Indian.''

The same President Ram Nath Kovind attended the National Event of Vijay Diwas as Guests of Honor in Bangladesh. The parade has been held at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka here. His Excellency Kovind held talks with Bangladesh's top leadership on the first day of his three-day official visit here. Earlier, President Kovind was accorded a grand welcome on his arrival in Dhaka on Wednesday.
