New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday and asked for more help getting Indian citizens out of the city of Sumy. He also asked for more help from his government.
The Prime Minister also liked that Ukraine and Russia were still talking to each other face-to-face, sources from the Indian government said. He thanked Ukraine's President Zelensky for his help in getting Indian citizens out of Ukraine. The phone call lasted about 35 minutes, and it went on for about that long. As sources say, the two leaders talked about the situation in Ukraine.
"PM Modi was pleased with the continued direct talks between Russia and Ukraine," sources said.Not only that, but Indian Prime Minister Modi will also be talking to Vladimir Putin today.
It started on February 24 when Russia started a special military operation in Ukraine. Since then, the Prime Minister has talked to both leaders twice.
On February 26, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky told Modi in great detail about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The United Nations Security Council had a vote, and India didn't vote. Zelensky talked to Prime Minister Modi and asked for India's help at the UNSC.
The Indian Prime Minister talked to the Russian President on February 24 night and then again on March 2, which is when they met again. In his last phone call, Prime Minister Modi talked about the situation in Ukraine, especially in the city of Kharkiv. The two leaders also talked about how to get Indian citizens out of the conflict zones safely, according to the Prime Minister's office.
