NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for a crucial address at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd July. This marks his first speech to MPs of the ruling coalition since beginning his third term in office.

Traditionally, Modi has spoken to NDA MPs on specific occasions, especially when elected as their leader before each of his terms. However, his addresses primarily focus on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs during regular parliamentary sessions.

Official sources have confirmed that all BJP members and their coalition partners have been formally invited and encouraged to attend Tuesday's gathering.

This development holds significance as, for the first time since 2014, the BJP has lost its majority in the Lok Sabha following recent elections. The party now heavily depends on its allies to sustain the government.

While the BJP secured 240 seats, its allies secured an additional 53 seats, enabling the NDA to comfortably surpass the halfway mark in the 543-member House.

The NDA meeting coincides with ongoing discussions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's address to a joint session of Parliament. Modi is expected to participate in these debates and respond to issues raised in both houses.

Meanwhile, today, Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent remark that the last 10 years of his leadership were just a preview and "the full picture is yet to come."

During his speech on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address, Kharge criticized the NDA government's third term, highlighting issues such as exam paper leaks, terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, train accidents, airport canopy collapses, bridge failures, and toll tax increases.

Kharge pointed out that the President's address lacked a vision and guidance on addressing these challenges. He emphasized the absence of any strategies or plans to tackle these issues, which he felt should have been a crucial part of the speech.
