PM Modi to address Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018

The Second Edition of Smart India Hackathon began today at 28 centres across the country including Banaras Hindu University.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address participants of the hackathon through Video Conferencing.

Nearly 8 thousand students are participating in the two-day long grand finale. Here they would find solutions for 340 software problems related to various ministries and departments.

The Banaras Hindu University is one of the 22 centres in the country selected to host this edition.

 As per the reports of The Hindu,  the CVR College of Engineering is hosting the country’s biggest digital programming contest ‘Smart India Hackathon-2018’. The event would be inaugurated by AICTE Chairman Anil D. Sahasrabudhe on March 30 means today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon on 30 March and 31 March.

The Prime Minister in a tweet said, "I eagerly look forward to this opportunity of engaging with pioneering young innovators. During the programme I would be interacting with participants across various centres."

A statement said of 20,000 plus teams in India, 1,296 have been selected for the grand finale. A record 10 teams from CVR have also been selected and are participating at other nodal centres. The launch of the programme at twenty eight nodal centres in the country will be aired from the CVR College, which is the only college that has been selected in the Telangana for the second time in a row.

This event is promoted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the AICTE to spigot the talent of engineering students and also to give solutions to problems of various Ministries and Departments of the Central and State Governments.
