Patna: Bihar leader of the opposition and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav is adamant on the demand for conducting caste census. In 2021, Tejashwi Yadav is pleading with the country's PM Narendra Modi to get the proposed census on the basis of caste. In the same incident, just a day before Independence Day, Tejashwi tweeted demanding PM Modi to announce an ethnic census.

Tejashwi has urged PM Modi to announce an ethnic census from thereafter hoisting the flag at the Red Fort tomorrow. Tejashwi tweeted on Saturday, "Parliament is not right but tomorrow, on the 75th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi announce an "ethnic census" to give proper impetus to the upliftment and inclusive developmental work of the poor, deprived, neglected, and backward sections."

Earlier on Friday, Bihar leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav had written to PM Modi demanding a caste-based census. The leader of the opposition wrote in his letter, "Census is conducted every 10 years by the Government of India to ensure policy formulation, budget allocation and collective targets under the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas" in Team India to give proper speed to development works in the country and to know the real population. The government has given written information in Parliament not to conduct an ethnic census, which is unfortunate. The backward and most backward classes have not been able to make the desired progress for years."
