NEW DELHI: In an eventful agenda scheduled for 1st August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace Pune with his presence. His visit aims to inaugurate the completed sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro Phase I, where he will also flag off the metro trains.

These sections, extending from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station, will serve as vital connections between significant locations in Pune city, including Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station.

Notably, among these new sections, the Civil Court metro station stands out as one of the country's deepest. Plummeting to a depth of 33.1 meters, it boasts the unique feature of a station roof designed to allow direct sunlight to illuminate the platform.

"The inauguration represents a crucial stride towards fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of providing modern and eco-friendly mass rapid urban transport systems throughout the nation," asserted the Prime Minister's office in an official statement.

During his visit, PM Modi will also preside over the inauguration of the Waste to Energy Plant under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). This project, developed at a cost of approximately Rs.300 crores, is designed to convert around 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually into electricity.

The Prime Minister will also participate in the handover of more than 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC, and he will oversee the handover of more than 2,650 PMAY houses built by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

Furthermore, PM Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for approximately 1,190 PMAY houses to be constructed by PCMC and over 6,400 houses developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority. This auspicious event marks a significant milestone in the city's development and growth.
