LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh's 296-kilometer-long Bundelkhand expressway will be opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 16.

While laying the foundation stone in February 2020,  Prime Minister Modi had said that the project "will generate thousands of employment opportunities and connect the common people with facilities available in bigger cities".

The expressway begins close to Bharatkoop in the Chitrakoot district and merges with the Agra-Lucknow expressway close to Kudrail village in the Etawah district, claims the government spokesman.

Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Aurraiya, and Etawah are the seven districts that are included. Several rivers, including the Bagen, Ken, Shyama, Chandawal, Birma, Yamuna, Betwa, and Sengar, are crossed over the length of the road.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) built a four-lane highway with room to grow to six lanes in the future. 13 interchange points are present.

The project's overall cost is estimated by officials to be over Rs 15,000 crore. However, by choosing e-tendering, the Yogi Adityanath administration has saved about Rs.1,132 crore. The project is anticipated to improve connectivity in the state and stimulate economic growth.
