New Delhi: On Thursday, December 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the National War Memorial's homage and welcome ceremony for the 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaals,' which he lighted on the same day last year to celebrate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
Modi kindled the triumph light from the Eternal Flame at the memorial last year as part of the 'Swarnim Vijay Varsh' celebrations to celebrate 50 years of India's victory and formation of Bangladesh, said the PMO.
He had also sparked four flames, that were to traverse in different directions. The four flames have been carried across the country since then, including to Siachen, Kanyakumari, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Longewala, the Rann of Kutch, and Agartala, according to the statement by the PMO. The flames were carried to different battlegrounds as well as the homes of gallantry medal winners and military veterans from the 1971 conflict. These four flames will be joined with the Eternal Flame by Modi during the homage ceremony on Thursday, according to the PMO.
