NEW DELHI: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to him.

Remembering his birthday, PM Modi said Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which is the forerunner of the BJP, had made rich contribution to India's history. Prime Minister Modi recalled his accomplishments and said: "Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee is honoured on his birthday. He has earned a lot of appreciation for his contributions to India's development, especially in fields like business and industry. He was also renowned for his intelligence and scholarly character."
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu also paid tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
