ABU DHABI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a letter to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan outlining plans to improve bilateral strategic ties and advance those ties for the benefit of their shared interests.
During a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who is presently in the United Arab Emirates to attend the 14th session of the UAE-India Joint Committee and the third session of the UAE-India Strategic Dialogue, Sheikh Mohamed received the letter.
The meeting on Friday began at the Al Shati Palace with Jaishankar extending Sheikh Mohamed's greetings and expressing Modi's hopes for continued development and prosperity for the UAE and its citizens.
The UAE President sent his wishes to the Prime Minister and wished India and its citizens continued growth and prosperity.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and India and other regional and global issues of shared concern were also covered during the meeting. The two sides also discussed various aspects of their bilateral relations and the significance of working together to strengthen and advance them within those frameworks.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, also attended the meeting.
There was also the delegation that accompanied Jaishankar. Sheikh Abdullah presided over the third meeting of the UAE-India Strategic Dialogue that day in Abu Dhabi. Jaishankar served as the leader of the Indian team.
The two parties talked about topics of shared interest and potential ways to improve bilateral cooperation in accordance with the CEPA throughout the session. They also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
