CAIRO: Just one day before a five-nation conference in New Alamein, a coastal city in northwest Egypt, the leaders of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq gathered to discuss ways to improve their overall relations.
Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, expressed appreciation on behalf of his nation during the meeting, according to a statement released on Monday by Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
According to the statement, Sisi and the other four Arab heads of state -- UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi -- also discussed ways to improve ties and cooperation between the five nations in all areas.
The UAE President landed in New Alamein on Sunday and met with Sisi to greet the other three leaders at El Alamein International Airport earlier on Monday.
Tuesday's five-country Arab summit aims to further up efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq.
