Ujjain: PM Narendra Modi's inauguration of Mahakal Corridor built at a cost of Rs 750 crore has just been postponed. His visit has been cancelled at present due to the enforcement of the code of conduct for the civic body elections. Perhaps now their next program could be released in October.

Let me tell you that PM Narendra Modi's visit to Ujjain in June was almost decided. He was to dedicate the Mahakal Corridor behind the Mahakal Temple. Due to the PM's visit, the construction work of the corridor was to be finalized by May 30. It was also expedited by the administration. The work on the corridor had slowed down due to the announcement of the three-tier panchayat elections and then the early announcement of the civic body elections. Pm Modi's visit was cancelled in a way due to the announcement of the civic body elections on Wednesday and the code of conduct came into force.

Although the officials are saying that the PM's visit was scheduled to take place in June, the last date was not fixed. Since the code of conduct has now come into force, which will remain in force till July 17, there cannot be any official event or dedication. So, PM Modi's arrival has been automatically cancelled. According to Collector Ashish Singh, due to the code of conduct, the PM will not be able to visit now.
