New Delhi: On January 30, 1948, Nathuram Godse shot and killed the country's father Mahatma Gandhi. Today Bapu's death anniversary is being celebrated all over the country. President Ramnath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to him on the occasion. President Ramnath Kovind has said that the Father of the Nation has left the mantra of loving others unconditionally.

Rashtrapati Bhavan has written on its official Twitter account that, 'On Martyr's Day, President Ram Nath Kovind paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. In his final sacrifice Gandhiji left a reminder for us: unconditional love, especially to others. I am sure many of us will discover the true message of Gandhiji. '

At the same time, PM Modi wrote on his Twitter handle ,"I bow down in tributes to Father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Bapu's personality, ideology and principles will always inspire all to make a prosperous India."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has written that, 'Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts are as eternal today as they were decades ago. He inspired not only India but the whole world to follow the path of truth and non-violence. Today, Modi has done the work of realizing Gandhiji's dream of a clean India. Greetings to Gandhiji.
